John’s Bar Mitzvah Fundraiser for Stupid Cancer

John Doran

John Bar Mitzvah

As we celebrate John’s Bar Mitzvah, we are filled with gratitude for the love and support of our family and friends.

A cornerstone to any Bar Mitzvah experience is the mitzvah project - an undertaking to serve and support others. We therefore humbly invite you to honor John’s milestone by supporting an organization that has profoundly shaped our lives.

Stupid Cancer has played a meaningful role for us, as it served as the avenue for Sue to truly begin to acknowledge — and understand — the lasting role her health realities played in every part of our lives. Stupid Cancer unlocked a means for cancer to suck a bit less!!!

As a board member and direct beneficiary of Stupid Cancer programs, community, and impact, Sue understands first hand how the organization enables patients, survivors and caregivers to navigate the widespread and unique impact cancer has on the young adult population.

One of the organization’s most powerful experiences is its annual conference, CancerCon — a national gathering focused on connection, education, and belonging for young adults affected by cancer.

This year’s CancerCon takes place the exact same weekend as John’s Bar Mitzvah - the overlap acts as a reminder of how deeply the community is woven into our family’s story, and why it feels especially fitting to honor this milestone by giving back to Stupid Cancer.

Your donation in honor of John’s Bar Mitzvah will help support community programs, research, and advocacy for young adults whose lives have been shaped by cancer — so that no one has to navigate this chapter alone.

Thank you for celebrating with us and appreciate your willingness to consider supporting Stupid Cancer!
